Lodovico Lazzarelli (1447-1500); the Hermetic writings and related documents.
Lazzarelli's work figured prominently in the religious scholarship of the late fifteenth century, but despite his influence both the author and his writings have faded into obscurity. In this first complete translation of Lazzarelli's hermetic writings, Hanegraaff (history of Hermetic philosophy, U. of Amsterdam) and translator Bouthoorn provide English versions of Epistola Enoch, Three Prefaces Addressed to Giovanni da Correggio, Crater Hermetis and Lazzarelli's alchemical writings, along with a selection of related documents, including a biography by Filippo Lazzarelli. Perhaps to atone for the neglect Lazzarelli has suffered for several hundred years, Hanegraff provides an extensive introduction to his life and work, including background material about the world of Renaissance hermetism.
