Almir Mavignier; additive posters.
With text written in both German and English, this oversize (11.75x11.75 inches) slender catalog presents the posters of Almir da Silva Mavignier exhibited in the Museum für angewandte Kunst (Museum of Applied Art) in Frankfurt. The artist was born in Rio de Janeiro, but has been living in Germany for almost 50 years. While much of his work is abstract and clearly influenced by op-art, some work displayed here is representational in nature. The book ends with a brief chronology and a list of exhibitions, but no subject index. Distributed in the US by National Book Network. (Annotation ©2006 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)

Debordered space; indeterminacy within the visual perception of space.
Jatsch, an architect by training, ruminates at length on the nature of constructed space — in architecture, sculpture, and contemporary art — and on humans' abilities to maneuver and comprehend their surroundings, particularly now, given the overwhelming flow of information provided by electronic technology. The text is presented in side-by-side German and English. Name index only. Distributed in the US by National Book Network. (Annotation ©2006 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
