Though the title might suggest Fritz actually traveled with Lewis and Clark, in fact, he's alive and well in Billings, Montana. The paintings presented in this volume were part of a travelling exhibition commemorating the 200-year anniversary of the Corps of Discovery's journey to the Pacific. These accomplished landscape and figure paintings (in oil on board) are Fritz's renditions of the different landscapes and events observed by Lewis and Clark, as they can be reconstructed from the journals of the Corps (excerpts from which are included with each painting) and his own detailed on-site paintings at each location.
