The nine chapters in this volume provide guidance and principles for problem-oriented policing and situational prevention, addressing the fact that both approaches have neglected the stage when measures identified during analysis are put into practice. Chapters were first presented as papers at a conference on the implementation of crime prevention, held in May 2005 at Stavern, the Norwegian Justice Sector's Center for Training and Practice. Knutsson (Norwegian Police University College) and Clarke (Rutgers U.) bring together chapters that address problems of implementing specific single crime prevention projects or broader programs; how to get the most out of prevention schemes; problems in project management; the role of central agencies; and good practice. Contributors are academics in the fields of law, crime science, and criminology from around the world. The book lacks an index. (Annotation ©2007 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
