Every museum in America should have at least one copy of this title, which comprises standards, best practices, and easy-to-understand commentary on both; and at the list price it should be possible for even the smallest-budgeted museums to benefit from it. After an introductory section, topics covered are public trust and accountability, mission and planning, leadership and organizational services, collections stewardship, education and interpretation, financial stability, and facilities and risk management. Although the tome is too slim to go into great detail in any particular area, it specifically includes the standards and best practices outlined by the American Association of Museums, and provides a great overview and interpretation of each.
