Desalination of seawater.
This slim manual shares lessons learned from seawater desalination projects around the world and offers guidance on operating a desalination facility employing pressure-driven membrane processes. The six chapters address water quality, environmental impacts, mitigation measures, treatment costs, safety, and security. The most common approaches to seawater reverse osmosis pre-treatment, reverse osmosis design, disinfection, post-treatment, energy recovery, and corrosion prevention are described and compared. A few b&w photographs and diagrams are provided. (Annotation ©2011 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
