This report on transportation planning was developed out of the Transportation Infrastructure: The Next Hundred Years track at the American Planning Association's National Planning Conference in Minneapolis, April 2009. The report includes expert opinions and overviews from researchers and practitioners in chapters on the federal role, transportation infrastructure and urban growth and development plans, infrastructure and global competitiveness in southern California, commercial waterways, sustainable streets, reducing greenhouse-gas emissions, and big city planning directors' approaches to infrastructure.
