Environmental archaeology in Transdanubia.
In this volume, Zatykó (Archaeological Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences) et al. present findings from an environmental archaeology investigation of Transdanubia. A group of Hungarian archaeologists provide paleoenvironmental and archaeozoological investigations of this Central European region that compare pollen sequences and describe the geohistory of Balaton area, analyze bird remains from Lake Balaton to understand the archaeo-ornithological history of the region, and document settlement patterns. They also present paleoenvironmental studies that detail the vegetation history, settlement patterns, and morphology of the Hahót Valley of Hungary, the Somogy Hills, the Alpine foreland, the Devecser Plain, and the Mezóség region.
