American furniture standards.

This plastic-comb-bound report with a plastic cover lists American furniture-related standards. Rather than presenting full standards, the report gives a short description of each standard and provides information on where the full standard can be found, usually by way of a Web link. More than 140 standards are listed, along with contact addresses of standard-setting institutions, testing laboratories, and certification agencies. Special attention has been given to flammability standards for upholstered furniture and bedding, as well as safety standards for baby and juvenile products. Also included are standards for important raw materials and supplies, such as wood, veneer, particle board, engineered wood panels, furniture hardware, paints, lacquers, and varnishes. The standards are classified according to the type of product, with sections on household furniture, upholstered household furniture, juvenile and baby furniture, mattresses and bedding products, office and institutional furniture, kitchen cabinets, raw materials and supplies in furniture production, and selected furniture-related standards. Some areas excluded are electrical standards, seats used in motor vehicles, standards set by the US military, standards that apply to manufacturing establishments, and international and foreign standards.
