This ninth volume of the Annual Review of Biomedical Engineering contains 19 essays on topics such as cell mechanics, engineering approaches to biomanipulation, forensic injury biomechanics, and genetic engineering for skeletal regenerative medicine. Yarmush (Center for Engineering in Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School) et al. also compile articles that examine nanotechnology applications in cancer, SNP genotyping, magnetic resonance-compatible robotic and mechatronics systems, SQUID-detected magnetic resonance imaging in microtesia fields, ultrasound microbubble contrast agents, acoustic detection of coronary artery disease, and breast CT, among others.
