SciTech Book News

As a resource for librarians and other buyers of high-level books, SciTech Book News, published quarterly, cites about 2000 new books from several hundred publishers in each issue, offering concise reviews and annotations and thorough bibliographic information. The bibliography itself is arranged by subject, but this page and the other publisher pages present the material arranged by publisher.

Entries include title, author, series (in parentheses), publisher, copyright date, number of pages, price (at the time of listing), Library of Congress subject classification code, and ISBN. For scholarly and reference books, we note if they lack a subject index or a bibliography. Size is mentioned when the book exceeds 8.5x11 inches.

Offering practice in the types of questions common to all nursing school entrance exams, this guide will assist students preparing for nursing school entrance examinations. The book is not intended to provide sufficient instruction on any topic; rather, it supplies review material and practice exercises on verbal ability, reading comprehension, numerical ability, and science. Within each chapter are sample tests with explained answers, and, for numerical ability test, step-by-step solutions. The first two chapters offer basic information on the nursing profession and nursing programs, and on general exam preparation and test-taking strategies. The book ends with a multipart exam which provides an overview of all of the concepts found in the book. Grimes teaches nursing at the University of Texas-Austin.
