Ang presents a guide to photography that contains brief step-by-step instructions and tips on how to take pictures of anything, including people, landscapes and nature, animals, architecture, and events. He also discusses elements of photography in the introductory chapter (including how to choose a camera), and artistic expression and using photography for things such as scrapbooking, promoting a business, or selling items, as well as unique types like infrared imaging. Many color photos are shown, illustrating different techniques and versions of the same photo. Ang, the host of BBC TV's A Digital Picture of Britain, has worked as a technical and picture editor on many magazines. He formerly lectured in photographic practice at the U. of Westminster, London, UK. (Annotation ©2007 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)

The approximately 140 satellite images collected here depict sites on every continent from a bird's eye view. Accompanied by corresponding political maps of the largest regions photographed, images captured include the approach of Hurricane Katrina to New Orleans, the enormous Grasberg Mine in New Guinea, and the otherworldly seasonal red waters of Madagascar's Betsiboka river, to name a few. A hologram on the cover portrays maps from one angle and satellite pictures from the other. Oversize: 11.75x9.75 inches. (Annotation ©2007 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
