Steam in the air; the application of steam power in aviation during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Having been an engineer officer in the merchant marines of Britain and Panama, Kelly turned to writing, with steam power being of particular interest. Here he examines the use of steam as a method of propulsion in both lighter-than-air and heavier-than-air aviation and the reasons behind the adoption of steam engines to provide lift and motion in the air. He also provides information about the remaining artifacts in various museums around the world. Distributed in the US by Casemate. (Annotation ©2007 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
