State medical licensure requirements and statistics, 2008.
This work presents current information and statistics on medical licensure in the US and its possessions. Data were obtained from a number of sources, including state boards of medical examiners, the Federation of State Medical Boards, the National Board of Medical Examiners, and the US Medical Licensing Examination Secretariat. Licensure data and policies were compiled from the AMA's 2007 Medical Licensure Survey, which was sent in April 2007 to all 54 allopathic and 14 osteopathic boards of medical examiners in the US. Because boards meet frequently to modify their licensure and examination policies, appendices of contact information for the state licensing boards is included. A glossary is also included. The book will be used by physicians, recruiters, employers, and consultants. (Annotation ©2008 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
