Climate change 2007; mitigation of climate change.
This is the third volume of the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which was formed by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Environment Programme. This volume addresses the questions of how climate change may be reduced or avoided; the costs, time required, desirable policies it will require to effect such change, and the link of such policies to sustainable development. The material is clearly organized and includes abundant visual aids displaying statistical and geographic information. An initial chapter summarizes the material for policy makers, followed by a technical summary. The remaining chapters discuss the material by topic, with chapters included on industry, agriculture, forestry, and waste management. A glossary is provided. This is a thoughtfully produced resource that will be useful to researchers, students, and policy-makers as well as the interested general reader. (Annotation ©2008 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
