American Psychiatric Pub.
The American Psychiatric Publishing board review guide for psychiatry.
This comprehensive reference helps prepare candidates taking Part I of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Examination in Psychiatry. While Part I of the exam covers both psychiatry and neurology, the book focuses on psychiatry aspects; however, there are several chapters addressing illness at the psychiatry-neurology interface. The book's organization mirrors both clinical practice and the exam itself, with a review of basic sciences followed by chapters on diagnostic methods, then on to the full spectrum of psychiatric disorders, treatment options, and special issues in assessment. The American Psychiatric Publishing textbook of psychopharmacology, 4th ed.
This fourth edition of a textbook/reference for psychiatry residents and clinicians draws on the talents of 53 new contributors, with the total increased from 139 to 158, to keep abreast of new perspectives on psychiatric drug therapy. Introductory chapters provide a theoretical grounding in clinical applications. The next section is devoted to specific treatment agents, and provides information on indications, side effects, and interactions. Chapters on clinical psychobiology and psychiatric syndromes review the neurological underpinnings of specific disorders. This edition contains new chapters on genomics and genetics, the neurobiology of childhood disorders, and treatment of chronic pain syndromes, plus expanded material on newly approved agents. There is also new material on ethical considerations such as long-acting medications and off-label prescribing. Schatzberg is professor and chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. Nemeroff is professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University. (Annotation ©2009 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)

The fourth edition of this study guide for Part II of the ABPN Examination is designed for psychiatry candidates who are either preparing for their boards or have already failed the exam and must retake it. The authors also provide an example of a mock board interview, and a DVD provides video training vignettes. (Annotation ©2009 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
